As we work our way through the first few month of the 2024-25 School Year Athlete Program, it’s essential to take a moment to reflect on the hard work our young athletes have put in over this time.
Whether it's learning workout movements that they might have seen before or are brand new to them. This recap celebrates their achievements thus far and prepares them for what’s coming next in their fitness journey.
What We’ve Accomplished Together
Building Foundations & Enhancing Skills
Over the past few weeks, we’ve focused on building foundations through core exercises like squats, hinges, presses, and planks/hangs. These exercises not only enhance the athletes performance in sports but also help prevent injuries. Their hard work sets them up for success, and this is the perfect time to remind them how these drills/workouts translate to improving their sports skills!
Improving Endurance
Whether through on-field training or fun games, we’ve seen significant improvements in stamina. Athletes are pushing themselves & their teammates further each week, which is crucial for sustaining energy during practices and games.
Team Spirit and Support
One of the most rewarding aspects of our training has been team growth. Athletes push one another to run fast, perform better, cheer each other on, and celebrate those small victories. This will hopefully form lasting friendships in and outside of the weight room.
What to Expect in Upcoming Weeks
Increased Intensity & Goal Setting
We’ll encourage our athletes to set personal goals for the next training phase. This will help keep them motivated and provide a clear focus of their efforts. That said, we will continue to build on that foundation as we ramp up intensity throughout each workout! This means more challenging exercises and an opportunity to showcase the progress everyone has made.
Focus on Recovery
With increased intensity, we’ll also emphasize recovery techniques. This includes stretching, foam rolling, and understanding the importance of rest. Recovery is just as crucial as training, and we want to ensure our athletes stay healthy and injury-free.
Working with young athletes so far has been an incredible journey, and I couldn’t be prouder of each athlete’s commitment and progress. As we look forward to the upcoming weeks, let’s carry this momentum together.
Keep pushing, stay positive, and remember every bit of effort counts!
